IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY

The Trust office is open on Monday to Friday between 9.00a.m. – 11.00a.m, however in the event of an emergency please follow the guidance below first and then inform the office on 01491 579803.


In the event of a FIRE:   

DIAL 999

 

Do not place yourself in any danger if there is a fire at your property. Phone the fire brigade immediately; vacate the property without picking up any of your personal belongings. Inform all neighbours. Report the incident to the Housing Manager as soon as possible.


In the event of a: GAS LEAK:

If you smell gas:

  • Contact your Gas supplier immediately
  • Extinguish all cigarettes - do not smoke
  • Do not use a naked flame to find the leak
  • Do not use electrical appliances, including light switches
  • Open all doors and windows to circulate air and get rid of the smell
  • Check to see if the pilot light has blown out
  • Turn off the gas at the meter

 

If the smell of gas continues or you are unable to turn off the gas, phone the Gas Board immediately.


In the event of a:  FLOOD or MAJOR WATER LEAK :

If you have a flood, turn off the water supply at the stopcock and drain off the tank by turning all the taps on. Turn off the heating and electricity until they have been checked as safe. If you cannot stop the flooding, contact Thames Water and notify all neighbours.


ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

For general electrical faults : Phone your electric supplier.

 

If you have sparking or smoking electrical appliances or you suspect that water may have leaked into the wiring, turn off the electricity immediately and phone the Electricity Board. If you have a power failure, check with your neighbours to see if other properties are affected. If the problem is only with your property, check the trip switch.
